The name Matt Taylor is well-known on the British blues scene as a highly regarded guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer. His 1995 debut album Radio City Blues earned him British Blues Connection Award nominations for best album and best guitarist. He has made three further albums with his own band and several others in collaboration with the likes of Long John Baldry with whom he toured Europe twice, releasing one live album and The Snowy White Blues Project who he began working with in 2008, touring all over Europe and releasing one studio and one live album.

As a session musician​ he has worked with a huge variety of artists in many genres including European and US tours with Patricia Kaas, TV & raio work with Take That’s Gary Barlow, live work with Tony Hadley and TV appearances with Belinda Carlisle, Shelby Lynne and Lulu. He has backed artists as diverse as Jamie Cullum, Shane McGowan and Tony Christie and jammed with David Gilmour and Joe Bonamassa, his career taking him to as far-flung places as the Middle East and Siberia. Matt is also a talented producer and mix engineer, being at the helm for Mark Butcher’s debut album Songs from the Sun House and a variety of other projects including The Motives, The Boom Band and the Snowy White Blues Project. In 2010 Matt formed the Motives with keyboard player Jonny Dyke, bassist Andy Graham and drummer Roy Martin.They released their debut album 2012, receiving three British Blues Awards nominations and have played all over Europe, including a support tour with Robert Cray and the London Bluesfestival at the Royal Albert Hall in 2012, 2013 & 2014.

Matt is also a founder-member of The Boom Band, a collective of first class musicians arising from the British blues scene. Enlisting the services of Jon Amor, Marcus Bonfanti, Paddy Milner and Mark Butcher they were selected by Paul Jones (The Blues Band/BBC Radio 2 presenter) to be the house band for his 2014 Christmas charity concerts, backing Van Morrison, Robin Trower and many others as well as performing in their own right. Their eponymous debut album was released in April 2015 to unanimously rave reviews and to date they have appeared at Ribs’n’Blues (NL), Carlisle Rock & Blues (UK), Southern Blues Night (NL), Moulin Blues (NL), Maryport Blues (UK), Huntenpop (NL), London Bluesfest (UK) and Flirting with the Blues (NL) festivals, along with club dates including Amsterdam’s Paradiso and London’s Half Moon Putney where they recorded a live album released in November 2015, again to widespread critical acclaim.

Matt’s new solo album Help the Neighbourhood is pending release and and a new Boom Band album is in the pipeline.
